What kind of media do I have?!?
Q. Why does The Digital Transfer record in real time, and not recommend fast record?
A. The simple explanation is that we care about the quality of our product. Fast recording, or dubbing, speeds up the process, but you will lose the quality of sound from your cassettes or LPs. The same principle goes for video. You will lose quality when recording at high speeds, and you risk damage to your original media in the form of snapped tapes. We believe foremost in customer care, and quality of our final product, so we take the time to do the job right!

Q. Does transferring media take a long time? I need my project completed quickly!
A. Transferring audio and video takes as long as the media runs. For example, if you have a one hour tape, it will take one hour to record. Some time is taken to edit and burn the media afterwords. Depending on what you want done with the file, for example touch ups, splicing and naming, it may take us a bit more time. In general, one hour of video or audio will take 1.5 hours to complete.
Photo scanning, slide and negative development can be done in bulk. Approximately 4 photos or slides are done at once. Depending on the final resolution you wish to have, this can be done in about 4 minutes. So, in one hour, approximately 50-60 photos can be scanned. If you would like dust removal or a very high resolution, this number would decrease to about 30 photos per hour.
If you have a time constraint, we are happy to take that into consideration. We would work diligently to meet your needs.
Q. I have a large amount of media, in different formats. Do you have bulk rates?
A. Yes. Please contact us and we would be happy to discuss your situation and give you a quote.
Q. Will my older media be returned to me?
A. Absolutely. Any media you give to us will be returned to you, unchanged, when the project is completed.
Q. I am on a fixed budget, but have media that I would like transferred. Are your rates reasonable?
